Emergency First Aid at Work Course
Course Overview:
This course is designed for those persons who could be involved in a first aid emergency at work. It will give the delagates knowledge, understanding and practical skills in first aid.
Performance Criteria:
By the end of the course the students will be able to apply the following relevant competences:
- The ability to act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work
- The ability to administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively
- The ability to accurately and competently complete and administer the client reporting procedures at their level.

- Incident and casualty priorities
- Recognition and treatment of regurgitation
- Care of the conscious and unconscious casualties
- Cardio-pulmonary resusitation (CPR)
- First aid for the wounded or bleeding
- Record keeping and personal hygiene
- Bleeding and Shock
- Burns and Scalds
Method:
- Lectures, discussion, demonstration and practical exercises as appropriate to client needs.
