Safe Holding & Escorting Techniques

Course Overview:

Within this course participants will be taught how to safely hold a client as a two staff team, standing and into a seated position only, enabling the client to calm. The techniques taught on this course are disseminated throughout as a last resort and should work in tandem with your organisational policy. The important skills learnt on this course will enable staff to deal with aggression safely and positively. Please note:We will not be teaching any pain compliance techniques.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course staff will be able to:

  • Work in a two staff team to physically hold a client for their safety or the safety of others.
  • Use appropriate techniques to the level of aggression presented
  • Implement a risk assessment before physically intervening with safe Holding techniques
  • Safely separate two clients fighting.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the risks associated with Safe Holding techniques.
